Brand Creation
Given full creative freedom, I conducted in-depth market research to develop a name, identity, and positioning that fit Toronto’s Queen West while staying true to its Middle Eastern roots.
Bold &
Memorable
The Dodo icon and strong typography create a modern, approachable identity that blends cultural authenticity with universal appeal.
Immersive
Digital Experience
A fully interactive 3D website on desktop and an app-like mobile version ensure a seamless and engaging customer experience.
Print That Feeds
the Brand
Thoughtfully designed packaging, menus, and signage create a visual language that makes Dodoner instantly recognizable and unforgettable.
OVERVIEW:
Dodoner is a modern take on traditional doner, located in the heart of Toronto. The project required a full brand identity that balanced authenticity with a fresh, bold look.

CHALLENGE:
Dodoner needed a distinct brand identity to stand out in Toronto’s competitive food scene while reflecting the authenticity of traditional doner. The goal was to create a modern, memorable brand that would resonate with both late-night food lovers and daytime diners.

Branding in digital era
The Dodo icon is more than just a symbol—it’s a visual representation of Dodoner’s identity, designed to connect with a Western audience while staying true to its cultural roots.
The animation begins with the icon dropping and rotating naturally, bringing the letters to life. The D’s and O’s form two figures looking up at the top dot before turning back toward each other, symbolizing shared experiences over food.
Inspired by the Turkish word “Döner,” the two dots over the O hold deeper meaning. One represents the meal itself, while the other symbolizes conversation, reflecting the essence of gathering and enjoying great food together.
Real 3D Website Experience
A standard website wouldn’t capture the bold personality of Dodoner, so I designed a fully interactive 3D experience. On desktops, users explore a dynamic environment where lighting shifts, perspectives change, and the restaurant comes to life. For mobile, the experience is optimized with a fast, app-like interface, featuring one-tap ordering and an intuitive menu for seamless navigation. This approach ensures the brand stands out both digitally and physically, creating a memorable first impression.

Testimonial

“I first worked with Akin on the branding for my first restaurant and was beyond happy with the logo he created. So when it came to launching Dodoner, I knew I could trust him completely—even with the name itself. He crafted everything from the brand identity to the packaging and signage, and the result was exactly what I envisioned. The 3D website added a whole new dimension to the experience. Akin has an incredible ability to bring ideas to life, and I couldn’t be happier with how it all came together.”
